Brandon Lozano has been around beach volleyball since age 12, with exposure to some of the all-time greats of the sport. In the two decades since, he's built a top-100 national ranking — at 5'7" — by refusing to copy how taller players play the game.

At his height, there were almost no players to learn from who looked like him. So he built his game completely differently. That forced a way of seeing the court that most players never develop — and it's exactly what he coaches.
